"Competent, friendly" staffers "go out of their way" for guests at this "attractive" nonsmoking SoMa property where the public spaces are similarly "nicer than expected"; afficionados appreciate the lobby's "homey ambiance" – not to mention free WiFi and an on-site Starbucks – along with "large", "very clean" rooms featuring "terrific new bedding" and amenities that include a gym and indoor pool with whirlpool; complaints center on the "sketchy neighborhood" ("a little too far from Union Square", it's "pretty deserted at night") and "confiscatory parking fees" ("ouch!").

Clean comfortable room, mostly very helpful staff.

Lack of pool (closed for maintenance) with poor/no alternative plan.

I had a pleasant stay, in a comfortable room. Upon arriving a memo on the counter explaining the pool's closure for several weeks of maintenance was the only alert.

Wanted glass of wine at 3:30 pm/not available in hotel.

Starbucks at the hotel closed too early; restaurant did not open early enough. Friends and I had to go hunting for a place that served wine. The room was nice and clean; however, no exhaust in bathroom; no shower cap, lotion. Nice outdoor patio but no service from restaurant. ...read more
